Job Description

We’re hiring a Terminal Commercial Manager to join our team! The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth in our terminal portfolios. The Commercial Manager will focus on developing opportunities for growth, maintaining client relationships, and developing action plans to improve performance. This role can be fully remote; however, we have a strong preference for candidates who are based near our headquarters in Waltham, MA.

  • Revenue Generation : drive top-line growth through strategic commercial initiatives, pricing strategies, and customer acquisition/retention programs.
  • Strategic Asset Evaluation : assess terminal assets and capabilities in alignment with market demand, competitive positioning, and long-term business objectives.
  • Customer Management & Sales : manage and grow relationships with existing customers while developing new business with prospective clients. Lead commercial negotiations, contract structuring, and pricing discussions.
  • Market Intelligence : monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics to identify opportunities and risks. Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Financial Authority : exercise delegated financial authority to negotiate, approve, and execute commercial deals and contracts in line with company policies.
  • Cross-functional Leadership : collaborate with operations, finance, legal, and other internal teams to ensure commercial goals are aligned with broader business objectives.
  • Forecasting & Reporting : develop accurate commercial forecasts, track performance against targets, and provide timely reporting to the VP, Commercial and executive team.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in commercial or business development experience in the midstream/downstream energy sector.
  • Strong at building and maintaining relationships and networks within industry and internal stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of creative deal structures and commercial acumen.
  • Basic financial acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Extensive experience in customer-facing positions in the industry.
  • Effective across multiple mediums of communication (face-to-face, email, phone, video calls).
  • Strong strategic thinking skills.
  • Understanding of differences in risk between large vs. small scale deals.
  • Must be comfortable with approximately 25% - 30% of travel.

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, engineering or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in business (MBA) preferred.
