Position Summary
The Plant Operator II ensures the safe and efficient operation of high-capacity steam boilers (up to 4,000 BHP), chillers (up to 2,000 tons), and associated utility systems. This position supports utility operations by monitoring, maintaining, and repairing essential equipment in compliance with ASME and NFPA codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor steam plant boilers, chillers, and auxiliary systems using utility control panels.
• Maintain utility service levels and ensure safe plant operation.
• Perform routine inspections of the steam plant, checking meters, charts, pressures, and temperatures.
• Maintain detailed logs and regulatory reports, including operating logs and OEM manual references.
• Oversee operations associated with electrical power distribution panels.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on systems such as: Compressed air, CO2, Steam boilers, Fuel oil, Water purification, Glycol and chillers.
• Perform minor mechanical and piping repairs.
• Sample, test, mix, and inject chemicals to maintain optimal boiler water conditions.
• Execute blowdowns and ensure proper waterside treatment.
• Operate both hand and power tools as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of boiler rooms to prevent fire hazards.
• Drive utility vehicles between work sites and ensure equipment security.
• Follow OSHA and other federal/state safety guidelines when handling hazardous chemicals and power equipment.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least five (5) years of experience in a multi-boiler high-pressure steam plant environment.
• Valid Third Class Power Engineers License issued by NIULPE.
• Working knowledge of ASME and NFPA codes for power boilers.

Must be physically capable of:

• Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Pushing or pulling up to 150 lbs.

Some positions may require:

• A valid Georgia driver’s license.
• An insurable driving record.
